Doing a bathroom redo next week and suspect no earth bonding. If I used plastic pushfit tap connectors would that mean I don't have to earth bond the pipework in the bathroom.??

the pipe work should be bonded is if it higher than 1670 ohms with a long lead from the main earth as long as all circuits are rcd protected. If you are using plastic fitting the pipe may not be with in that reading. so its as scott says depends on the rest of the pipe work in the room

Leekemp have another read at your testing. OP didnt state in any RCD on circuit. He also didnt state tyope of overcurrent devgice used. Remember your 50v rule!!!!

Long lead test all metalic parts from your MET in the "Special location" Kitchens are included in part p If the reading is OVER 0.05 ohms then start putting in Suplimentery bonding

Sorry Scott I will keep quite from now on.
I was only quoting from the bloke that I did my 17th edition course with.
There is no need to go over the top (red underlined) I made a mistake its not a big deal.

hi

if every circuit in the bathrom is rcd protected then supp bonding is no longer required and if carrying out any new work it needs to comply with 17th and needs to be rcd protected, so if you have any circuits you havnt worked on that are not rcd protected you will need to introduce supp bonding... thats how i understood it to be anyway. correct me if i am wrong.

cheers

Leekemp i did underline it for a reason you quoted a number of the book without all the details doing this can be dangerous. If in this case it was an old d.b or even a 16th edition split board and the shower being over 32A wasnt on an rcd a resistance fro 0.05 to 1667ohms on the bonding in the event of a fault could be LETHAL.
The 17th course will only tell you how to find information in th book and the new layout. Go for a 2391-01 course that teaches you how to use the book and understand it.

remember a little knowlege can be a dangerous thing!!

Thanks for the reply guys...AS you can tell not an experianced electricain, but with your help I will learn a bit more.
The long lead test does that have to be done with a wander lead? or will similar size cable do and just calabrate the tester to zero.?
