Just got my pre-assessment paperwork through, and it says that specifically you should have at least

Big red book (obviously)
ESC Technical manual
NICEIC Inspection, Test and Cert book
EAW Regs book

I did a few searches but couldn't find any info on whether people had bought all these prior to assessment? Seems a bit harsh them insisting that you buy their own book before the assessment (which has cost £500). Like guidance note 3 wouldn't be acceptable! Also has everyone bought the others or would it be ok to have a digital copy? Bloody con merchants.

Yeah I did wonder if the leaflet might have been printed before GN3 was published. The technical manual also looks to be another moeny maker for them, the link doesn't actually take you to a technical manual, it tries to sell you software at £100/year subscription!

So after paying £500 for the NIC assessment, they now want me to spend £25 on their book and £100 on their software! Then if they're happy they want another £500 for the first year? I'm starting to wish I hadn't bothered

(To the tune of The Sweeney)

Elecsaaaaa, Elecsaaaaa, dah dah do da daaahn dah da da dahn.......

The technical manual is online, which negates the need for guidance note 1. The last few assessments I've been at haven't asked to see the NICEIC I&T book at all. If you can show them you have access to Memorandum on the EWR, either digital or hard copy there's not a problem, just make sure you've not infringed copyright laws!

Same for me had other paperwork like health and safety policy but was only interested in the above.

Nice one ta. Will get it all together and forget it so can concentrate on the more important stuff then! I'm more worried about having enough work to show him now, suppose he can only put off the main assessment until I've got more if that's what he wants. Hopefully won't be as bad as I'm thinking like everyone says!

Thanks Lenny the literature they'd sent through did mention those 2 but said "other publications applicable to the range of its electrical work (for example 5839 and 5266)".

I don't do any work on fire alarms or emergency lights so guessed I didn't need them. I suppose I could have them anyway just in case but I wouldn't want to be touching fire alarms for obvious reasons unless I'd learned a lot more about how they work.
