Been to price some outdoor sockets and lighting up. Is there anything in the regs to stop me from using an FCU (Ip rated 5 amp to lighting) as the light switch to save fusing down and then having to use another light switch?

No, not at all as long as it is IP rated according to the environment it is exposed too.

Nothing wrong there at all. That's exactly what I'd do.
