Brand new R2 Extension Reel...what do you think?

We’ve recently tracked down a new design of R2 extension reel and would really like to hear what you guys think of it.

The new R2 BodyReel is an innovative cable extension reel that has been designed to be attached to your upper body. This allows both hands to be free whilst testing and it comes supplied with a coiled cable so that it can be connected to a Multifunction Tester. The fixed sockets on the Body Reel are positioned to allow the user to wind up and unwind the wire while it is still connected to your tester without the risk of twisting, kinking or damaging the cable. Resistance remains unaffected throughout the reeling process. When testing has been completed it only takes one hand to quickly reel the cable back in while the other can be used to wipe the cable clean and guide it neatly back on to the reel. This method of reeling protects the condition of the cable, reducing the chances of damage and allowing use for longer periods before it needs to be replaced.

Advantages:
1) it goes where you do, less reel and lead dragging.
2) coiled cable from reel to meter a quality touch.
3) nice chunky crocodile clip, would like a nice chunky sharp prod as well?)
4) one handed reeling, brilliant idea.
Disadvantages:
1) it's got a open reel potential for cable damage in transit in back of van (shielded drum would be better).
2) wander lead end will require clipping/tying to drum to prevent unwinding in transit (drum lock would have been nice).
4) belt and strap likely to get tangled in other kit in back of van (stowage compartment for belt, strap and accessories (or protective box for whole kit) would be better.

R1 and R2 lead where would yuou use that??? ithough you connected R1 and R2 and cu and tested at points

allows you to link the Bus bar and Earth bar out with out disconnecting!! just make the relevant MCB "on a dead board" and get continuity!

Also great for checking the continuity of bonding if both ends aren't in the same room (I.E in industrial applications where the gas riser isn't in the same room as the mains but you need to check the continuity of the bond) and any other testing scenario where a flying lead is required. We use them on the railway for checking the IR of points heating strips because they are fed by a 2 core cable (the track cannot be earthed and anything connected to the running rails must be earth free) as if the strips have a IR that is too low any AC leaking to the track can affect track circuits.

Fairplay Lenny, We're not the guys that use these products day in day out. I just thought it was a innovative product that would save you some time. That's why I put it to the forum to get your honest opinion. I'm all for helping you out even if it involves constructive criticism!
