British Gas Requesting MCS Certificate Change

One of our customers has called us delighted with their installation it's generated 2450kwh of the 2650 kwh estimated for the year in the first 6 months (Summer obviously) but commented that it's performed so well that British Gas didn't believe him and asked for a photo of the meter as proof. I have heard about this before but it's a first for a customer of ours.

They then went on to suggest that to avoid this happening his installer should later the MCS certificate to reflect the increase estimated kwh. I can't see how we're able to do that because it wouldn't reflect SAP anymore but has anyone else had this sort of request????

Hi - I wouldnt change the MCS cert - as you said its based on SAP. Tell BG to stuff it, (not the kinda thing to tell the customer mind) but what else can you do?

Hi, I had the same issue with BG. Phoned the MCS and they said dont change the MCS cert it needs to be the SAP calculation and tell BG it is only a prediction not what will actually be generated. What happens if we have a really bad year or a really good year of sun, we would be changing MCS certificates all the time.

Tell BG to phone the MCS if they insist, worked for me.
