You what!?!?The 50 pence a month tax will apply to everyone with a fixed line telephone.
Don't the telephone companies make enough money out of us to fund these 'high speed networks'? This is just a smoke screen....more like cover the cost of phone bills made by MP's to sex chat lines!!!But the Tory MP John Whittingdale said the tax, which could raise up to ÂŁ175m a year to fund high speed networks, would be opposed by the Conservatives.
We'll see about that!!!"We want to make high speed networks nationally available. The next-generation fund will help that and we will legislate for it this side of a general election," he said.
No derailment
No. Once again the government is taking hold of something that everyone loves and in this case some need and applying a tax on it, it's outrageous! He told BBC News that the other recommendations of the Digital Britain report would "be built on" in the Digital Economy Bill, which will be presented to parliament in November.
At these desperate time? ....what next...."Nothing has been derailed. It is full steam ahead," he told BBC News.
Wouldn't make the slightest bit of difference. People will still illegal download regardless....Business Secretary, Lord Mandelson, has intervened to beef up the government policy on illegal file-sharing, which could include removing persistent offenders from the net.
Wot a joke , i am surprised they dont tax us on the air we breath
