Broadband to garden office: a tale of moving master BT sockets, WiFi woes and long ethernet cables

Thanks Gilko,

My current speed data is below. btw, The speeds are about the same whether I plug the router in at point "A" in the bedroom or point "B" in the living room.

Download speed: 53.96 Mbps
Upload speed: 8.31 Mbps
Ping Latency: 42.75ms

Andy
Looking at the speeds you are getting I'm assuming you are on a fibre broadband connection. What vDSL filters are you using as your NTE5 master clearly hasn't got the faceplate vDSL filter which would give you some other options and possibly increase your speed

The easiest and cheapest is to just run some telephone cable down to shed. I suspect you may have a fence or similar around the garden, then run it along there possibly in some tubing at least 2-3cm away from mains. Running it along fence makes things easier to maintain. You then have phone + router. You won't lose much speed. Otherwise you can get a second line installed to shed !. Cable is cheap just try it first if you like . Regards.
