I see in GN3 and the OSG there are 3 categories of duty for 3036 rewirables. Unless it is written on the fuse, how do you tell whether a fuse is S1A, S2A or S3A?

Typically BS3036 rewireable fuses found in domestic consumer units are S2A category of duty. On Wylex and some other BS3036 boards there is often a label (if the glue hasn't dried out and the label dropped off) inside the fuse carriers cover which provides data on the category of duty, SWG and nominal current rating of fuse wire.

Labels are great but as we all know fuse wire can be replaced with anything never mind ensuring the correct category of duty has been selected I would always take as worst case 1ka or if unsure lim
