Hi all

Have just attended an ECA seminar, on Earthing & Bonding.

It was brought up at the meeting, that the first draft for Ammendment 1 of the 17th edition has been made.

Big changes with regards to form filling of Periodic Inspection reports.. Now going to be a 10page document.

For those who carry out a lot of inspection & testing, Please read & if possible send your thoughts to the IET.. to get these new forms scrapped.

It is going to create a load of extra paperwork at our cost!!!

Here's a link for those to read

Cheers

I was reading the ECR the other day and generally think that it is an improvement on what we have now.:D

However how can we get people to pay more for this in the current climate?? I know people who are doing PIR's on 3 bed houses for £55....

It's a shocking state of affairs im afraid

I do a lot of commerical & industrial testing and the ammount of extra paperwork it is going to create on top is unreal.

On top of that, the expensive of the extra certificate pads we will have to buy.
From what i read

We will be required to do a 3 page tick sheet for the supply intake for each premises

and for each distribution board, a further 3 page tick sheet for each one.

Imagine a typical warehouse with 10 distribution boards

You will have 8 pages before you even test the first board

and then 5 pages for each distribution board afterwards

thats nearly a 60 page document, for something with current format would only 26 pages.

I imagine the NICEIC are going to enjoy all the extra income generated here.

and with regards to your point about PIR's for £55.... just a bunch of chancers getting away with it all the time.

I agree that a 60 page document is a lot to swallow, however the cowboys need stopping. I'm tired of trying to compeate with people who run in and run out. If it means filling in more tick boxes so that the tests are done correctly I still believe that its an improvement on what we currently have.

Or we need a new scheme that covers everyone.....

I just downloaded the pdf file linked in the OP and it comes up with blank pages???

I am using MAC OS X but haven't had any problems with pdf files before:confused:

Any ideas guys?

Have you tried opening it in Adobe Reader instead of the Mac software?

I just tried opening it on a PC, came up with lots of security alerts but did open eventually. I am running the newest version of Adobe.
