Hi..
came across a faulty rccb other day (its not quite opening fully when test button pressed) on a split board dating to about 1995.
It IS disconnecting supply but the switching arm isnt operating fully so im not confident its disconnecting both poles.
Bit of research ive done suggests its now about 5 years obselete. Any suggestions for a suitable replacement..?
The board isnt TOO bad but had some DIY tinkering over the years. Ironicaly it does have all the sockets for the house and the showers all on the split side, so its been fairly well catered for considering the age.

Hi..
Hopefully i want to find a replacement item for the RCCB... however i dont think i will find one due to its age.!

trying to post a picture hopefully this will work

yea i see the pic seen loads of them lol but as far as i know there is no new replacement all i can suggest is poss look on ebay (although you cant be certain if it wil work) that or replace the board with a new 17th edition dual rcd board?

on the over hand if you went to a wholesalers you can get new style square d rcds which you may be able fit in

yeah thanks for that
pretty much what i had planned.
Wouldnt trust second hand item unless it was still in original packaging.
That said they dont appear to have been manufactured for about ten years..!!
Posted on here just in case anyone knew of a modern RCD alternative that would fit in the same slot..
Client wont go for full board at the moment due to other work going on.
Going to test this RCCB fully next week, make sure it meets 5 step test, if not i will rip it out anyway and find something to replace it.!!

Hi.

When some makes of RCD (M.K for one), "trip" under fault conditions, the switch will only go half way. To reset then you must push the switch fully down and then all the way back up.

Could be one of these, but as you say full testing will confirm correct operation.

yeah... could be..!
however when the test button is pressed after tripping it the unit buzzes.! which doesnt fill me with confidence.
If it passes 5 point test i will consider whether or not it needs pulling.
At the end of the day if it passes all the tests and its in fact disconnecting everything, then its difficult to justify to client spending extra money for a buzzing noise when a button is pressed. !!
