Just wondered if someone could confirm, I have the big red bs7671 book, and the new green comes into force on the 1st Jan 2012.

I use my onsite guide most of the time and I am due my inspection in Jan and wanted to know can i just download the updates and add it to the red book , for example I already have the BS 7671:2008, Corrigendum (July 2008) , is there any other update I need to add, becuase I cant find one other than the July 2008, or do I have to buy the green book and fork out for a new guidance notes book, which ends up being best part of ÂŁ100 which I could do without.

Many Thanks

The corrigendums are just spelling & grammar mistake corrections.

A separate amendment to accompany BS 7671 2008-2011 has not been published due to the amount of new material in the the new book.

Unfortunately you will have to buy the new edition of BS 7671 for your assessment in January. Same goes for the OSG if you use it regularly

note that the installation certs and condition reports are also different so more cert books as well (if you use them) or download the revised unbranded certs from the iet website.

I bought the big green book back in October to use for Elesca assessment but I didnt need it. Now it is down to lazyitous and lots of beer and the fact it was coming up to crimbo, but I havent even read the new stuff in it, I dont think ive even opened it yet!!!
:rolleyes4: Well its nearly a new year and I suppose a new start, so I better get reading.

Have a good new year all

At an update briefing I attended hosted by ECA the ELECSA rep said you must posses a copy of the Green Book for assessments after 1st January. However, there is no formal requirement to have a copy of the OSG so that one's up to you and the way you operate.

Personally I know which I find more useful - so I've got both and have to work another day without profit to pay for them!
