Greetings all,

was hoping someone could confirm the bt extension wiring fron there master socket,,

am i right in saying..Blue with white rings in 2...orange with white rings in 3....white with blue rings in 5

I wouldn't bother with the orange - white on 3 unless you are connecting equipment that specifically needs it. Most if not all equipment these days doesn't use this, older equipment required it to stop bell tinkle when dialing

Connecting it can also cause interference on ADSL connected installations and reduce internet data speed

Also when installing extension sockets the total connected REN (ringing equivalance number) of equipment must not exceed 4 unles you use a REN booster
 
Thats correct only 2 & 5 needed the "Bell Circuit" on 3 is not needed in modern installations BT actually sell a plate (Interstitial plate or I-Plate) to isolate it to reduce interference which causes problems with ADSL and ADSL2 connections.

Hi I work for BT and we are still told to use orange/white for all extension sockets, but as above, on a modern system it really is not needed.
