Just come from a job : - they have had two phone lines installed , both owned by bt but one is a bt line. one is sky ( line rented off bt)
A problem arose with the one line . ( the sky one). and the bloke had a go at it himself and cocked the pairs up !!! :-(
the line in is a 4 core cable. obviously 2 cores: -for one line ( speech and ringing), and two more for the additional line.
How to i identify which is which ? .
ive done some dc testing , got one pair working for the phone number allocated : which showed 48 vdc between the cores.all working job done.
the other pair showed 48vdc the same, and i got it to speech ok. however , the other phone has caused some interference with it when picked up. and the phone deosnt ring properly....just sorta 'blips' ......
WTF ?? any ideas guys ?
