Hi, first post here.
I'm currently 25 going through a career crisis :banghead:. Spent all my college/working life in IT and got VERY bored of it, felt like I wasn't progressing at all. So I left all that behind and took a simple unskilled production operative job that actually pays better than when I was a PC technician (and I actually enjoy more surprisingly).
Anyway, I decided that I want to get clued up on electronic engineering instead. The only thing is that with bills to pay and a family I need to keep my job, and as I work over 3 shifts i'm going to have to do the distance learning route.
I am highly impressed by the look of Teesside universities open learning HND programme in electrical and electronic engineering and want to get access to that course by doing the related BTEC that is the entry requirement.
I have found a level 3 BTEC in electronic engineering which I hope will allow me to gain access to the course. The only thing about that is the only place I can find this course is through ICS.

What I want to know is, has anyone done this course with them and if so:
A: why is this course only through ICS?...will I definately be awarded a "kosher" BTEC certificate at the end or be fobbed off with some ICS diploma?
B: what are your opinions of the course/ICS because i've heard some not so good things about them.
Failing that can anyone point me in the direction of a similar BTEC that I could use to get on the course? Remember that it must be distance/open learning.
Thanks!
