Bloody expensive.

Just recieved an replay from an email i sent last week. I'd like to start doing PJ's but cant see my self doing more than 5 or 6 of them a year so don't see how its worth while. So i thought getting BC to sign my work off may be a good route sadly not.

Re-wire or new installation ÂŁ328.00 incl VAT

Other notifiable work ÂŁ192.00 incl VAT

Thats a ridiculous price!

No mate they dont. I dont see why electricians should be penalized for doing pj's if i was a carpenter, or carpet fitter then i could do the odd private job here and anywhere. but spending approx 800 on setting up just isnt my time insurance, test kit, calibration, part p. I'll declare my additional earnings i think i'll earn 1k maybe as much as 2k by doing pj;s but i just wont get anything out of it. Can a allready part p registered spark sign my work off? If i use an electrical installation certificate

as far as i know, they can sign someone elses work off - as long as they see the various stages of the installation - ie first fix and second fix, testing! You are right that it does cost a fortune to set up, but some parts i agree that you should have, like the insurance, meters etc. If the other spark is your mate - can he not take you on so that you are covered undered his insurance etc?

I guess he could, but then i'd like to keep things separate. All what i want at the end of the day is to earn a little bit extra and build a small side work where i may get 6 or 7 weekend works over the year but if im going to be paying ÂŁ800 or so then it just isnt worth the hassle.
