Does anybody know if you can claim work clothing as business expense for tax purposes. I would assume that you can claim for safety footwear - but what about trousers which whilst not a safety item - I wouldn't be without my knee pads at my age! Any informed comments would be appreciated - I do my own books so haven't got an accountant to check with, thanks.
 
Your trousers could be classed as uniform or overalls I think that is how my old accountant dealt with it

With regard to safety boots and knee pads that is PPE
