I know its a pain, but many electricians will be buying the new regs book. I've been browsing one particular site and wondered what best to buy with the new yellow BS7671 regs. You guys refer to the IT "OSG" book a great deal, but I've noticed another book being sold with BS7671 called "site guide" by NICEIC. Are they basically the same? I've also been trying to see if any other books are available for special locations etc, but drawing a blank so far, any pointers please?

guidance note 7 special locations

Whats the point? the whole of section 7 in BS7671 is far better than Guidance note 7, the OSG is a bit of everything so is a bit more useful if your on site, however keeping a copy of the regs in the van would IMO mean there is no need for the note 7 booklet, I would recommend the note 3, a lot of sparks will learn a lot from that lol

1. It's only an amendment to the 17th edition, not a new version. Plus it will be free to download.
2. Buy the proper OSG not some drivel from NIC.
3. Guidance notes 1-8 are the best additions to have.

The IET needs to stop issueing what I would consider, small and almost pointless revisions to the regs.

Once every 5 years would be too much, but every 2 years is taking the pxss.

And its not just the big book, its the OSG, the Guidance notes, updates to software for certs, updates to software for MFT's

We need a REBELLION and NOW.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news

1. wrong it is a new book, its a Yellow one, and its bloody expensive again!
2. I agree with you
3. I agree with you again.
