weve fitted in excess of 200 catII twin fittings.
3 of them are making a horrendous buzzing, ive checked all connections at the light and on the circuit but to no avail.
apart from changing the ballast does anyone have any advice please?
regards

out of 200 to have 3 buzzin aint bad are the "Buzzers" emergency or ordinary? IMO take them back n get wholesaler to replace buzzy ballasts just happen

oh i gave in a after i checked all connections, sat in digs drinking stella. knew that the only option was to change them but id rather sound stupid than look stupid and didnt want to return them and be told that all i needed to do was something simple on site.

normally this is caused by a slight bend or twist in the fitting , ,if you slacken the screws and slide in some heat resistant washers even tap washers under the screw area may just do the trick ,but not directly under the coils ,bit of a bodge it but may work , or even better put HF ballasts in

As above....sometimes 'wedging' something under the choke will stop it....not so much getting distance between choke and fitting, but reducing the vibration which causes the buzzing.

If the fittings are brand new then I wouldn't hesitate to return them. Wedging something under the ballast may cause them to run warmer than usual. The ballast fixed securely to the body of the fitting helps sink heat produced.
