Kevin

I've been booked on the 2372 course next week, to be done Monday to Friday.

Has anyone completed this course? I'm just wondering how intense the course is, in order for it to be completed in a week?

Many thanks

I went on one a couple of weeks ago - it was great as it was full of people who wanted to learn (as they'd paid a good few quid) and that was a four day course.

If you're an experienced electrician its enough time to learn what you absolutely need to know to get started. I think day one was the big overview and then a day of practicals and more theory and a day to revise.

I did the C&G course, it was designed more around the electrical side, we did do some installation work on a dummy roof but it was very vauge, not to say all C&G courses would be they same quality. Four days and then the last day a test. It was very difficult for me not having any any electrical qualifacations, but still managed to pass.
You will learn more on the job.

Thanks guys. I've five years experience working as a domestic spark, and with 2330 and 2391, so hopefully it will all be good. I'm more interested in the electrical side, as our team will also include a roofer and a chippie to do the panel installation.

Thanks for the feedback.

I just did the course at Able Skills in Dartford and I'm bitterly disappointed.

The course provided by C&G has got duff info embedded in it for example C&G believe that 30degrees is the optimal pitch when for the UK it's 36, 30degrees is Berlin!

There is so much that the course doesn't touch such as SAP calcs and shading calcs.

The working at height and material handling elements included in the course are a joke! Wear sunscreen, wear a harness and check your scaffold! Be careful of the wind and use proper lifting equipment!

On our course the systems didn't even have the correct colour markings on the DC cables and they made us wear 1000V gloves for the entire commissioning process including AC dead tests!

They failed me on the practical because I did the DC continuity test and insulation resistance before completing the insulation resistance test on the AC side.

I'm very unhappy with Able Skills and will be appealing the fail but maybe if you find a good training centre they might teach you the right stuff around the C&G course. Or just buy the cheapest, get the ticket and learn later!

Sorry to hear that, sounds like Able Skills really let you down. My training is with DCET in Exeter, hopefully they will be better than Able, I'll post some feedback on here when I get back.

I did my C & G a few weeks ago, I learnt a lot on the course , and passed. There is a lot more to learn in the big picture . One problem my 1552 megger will not go up too the OCV. I spoke to megger to seee if they could increase the voltage and they said they will shortly have a PV instrument including a solar radiation function .
m ore expensive kit which we all know will me on the MCS approval list very soon .

Ah, Voc, I know that now as I just passed my 2372. Did a five day course at DCET in Exeter, and found it very informative, and professionally run. It was more involved than I expected it to be, lots of focus on design, which I didn't expect, but I really couldn't fault them, provided a pretty good lunch too!!

I did my C&G 2372 at Bedford College. An excellent team and an top drawer course. I would recommend them in a heartbeat ;)
Talk to Business Link and check to see if there are any SEEDA grants available - i was lucky and got a discount on the course and some monetary assistance from Business Link. Stay Frosty

Cheers Andrew,

I was lucky, as my employer wants their MCS accreditation, they paid for me!

I appealed against my fail and upon consideration I was issued with a pass. I could have done it better but I didn't deserve to fail and upon consideration they agreed. Phew!
