also GN3, just before you go buying it check with the college or wherever you are taking it as most centres supply it with the course free. the amicus ones are handy for the tool box aswell and cheap as chips

Just passed my 2391 practical today, getting ready to sit written in October.

I've used the following:

GN3

Practical guide to Inspection, Testing and Certification of Electrical Installations
Have a look on ElectaCourse.com for Level 3 certificate in Inspection & Testing of Electrical Installations.

as everyone above has said

past papers
On-site guide
GN3
memorandum of guidance on the electricity at work regs
have a look at GS38
BS7671 especially section 7 special locations
learn how to draw earth fault loop diagrams with fault paths shown for earth faults and for PSCC faults course tutor showed us best way
learn how to write test procedures inc safe isolation etc can use diagrams if it easier for you
practical guide to inspecting ad testing by cristopher kitchner
scaddons inspection and testing
exam success but there are a couple of errors it says ZE on TT system should not exceed 20ohm and for testing a radial socket for polarity R1+R2 what about R1 + RN
basically read and learn to write in bullet points and
for test procedures you may have to show calcs as well ie for continuity of ring final circuit conductors
Use correct terminology for everything they are sticklers for this
when asked to show calculations show FNC ( formulae number calculation or you will get no marks)
learn test sequences out of GN3 basically around CRIPPER
IP ratings
hope thats a help to you mate study and revise all you can mate good luck to you

thanks again for the pointers. where and wot pass paper should i get?
if you have a look at recent posts on here in the inspection and testing section or the courses section there are lots who have posted similar or do your own post in there i am sure someone will send you some, try to get recent papers since the 17th came in to avoid confusion but any will give you a feel of how they word the questions and exam success will give you a good idea how to answer
also look at Amberleafs stickys as he has done loads for apprentices 2392 and 2391 questions, answers all very useful info

hi , the book I found most helpfull for the 2391 was exam success inspection and testing by c&guilds, has examples of exam whats expected etc, secondary know gn3 like the back of your hand, amicus electrcians guide to inspection and testing good for practical as well as theory and on amazon practical guide to inspection and testing by christopher kitcher and testingelectrical installations by anthony hinsley
good luck druid:)

All as everyone has said but also brush up on the IP codes, special location baths and showers is always a favourite, zones IP etc, learn the definitions from fig 2.1 page 32 BS7671 and stick to them, get a good understanding of Ohms Law including calculating voltage drop from conductor(s) resistance, a lot of people messed up on this a couple of months ago, and finally learn and practice drawing and fully labelling the earth fault paths for TT TN-S and TN-C-S including adding in a distribution circuit if required, this is a nice easy 15 marks if learnt properly
