I have got this exam on Friday, Has anyone taken it of late and could give me a steer on how the questions are framed etc? Asked my trainer for a practice exam and all the have given me is a multi choice!?

Here are some of the things that came up when i took mine.

label the parts of the sign wave.

Generation, transmission and distribution voltages used in the UK.

Block diagram about generating electricity.

Inductance, Capacitance, Resistance. Xl = 2 pi fl etc etc.

Neutral current in a 3 phase unbalanced star connected system. √((IL1-0.5(IL2+IL3))²+(0.866(IL2-IL3))²

How an HRC fuse works, with a labeled diagram.

Lux calculations.
E=I/d²

How a fluorescent light works.

Question on power factor.

Overall nothing to much to worry about really. I am sure you will nail it.
:rockon2:

Thanks, been sitting here reading the C&G book on working out neutral currents in an unbalanced supply using phasor diagrams, using a formula is a lot easier! Was there much on motors/machines, they are my Achilles heel!

You may get a couple on motors. we had to identify which type of motor it was and its application etc.

series wound DC was the one we got if i remember correctly.

Also how to reverse an AC series universal motor.

Nothing on machines. Star and Delta currents and voltages were in there though.

Here are a couple more for the neutral current -

x = A cos 0 + B cos 120 + C cos 240 (or, x = A - 0.5B - 0.5C)
y = A sin 0 + B sin 120 + C sin 240 (or, y = √0.75B - √0.75C)
N = √(x²+y²)

N=√((A²+B²+C²)-((A×B)+(A×C)+(B×C)))

Lost me there, I use the below or a decent protractor and ruler, I have a day off tomorrow so will be cramming like mad! Apparently this is the hardest exam of them all!?

I have edited the colour to separate them a bit. The one you are using is the blue one in my post.

The hardest exam i would say yes. But it will be questions on stuff you will have covered and nothing else.

Good luck with it.

Decided to give myself a bit more time and do this in a few weeks time, how these people do these zero to hero courses in five weeks I don't know!:)

Fair shout, Where you you doing your training? They flexible with this sort of thing then i guess.

The whole Zero to hero in a few weeks is just not reality. There is way to much to absorb and understand. A few years to get started, then a lifetime of learning.

:book: :computer: :book: :) :54:

I had a classroom day today on 305 and by the time we got to the end of the day there was no time to sit a the two hour exam!

Back to plan B, sit in a couple of weeks time!:)
