I never understand the difference with the ref of 2357 and AM2

As i have the 2330 Level 3, and can do a bridge unit to make it up to a 2357
do i have to do the AM2 THERE AND THEN
or can i gain the 2357 without the AM2 what i would do at a later date

If you have completed the 2330 levels 2 and 3 then making use of the "recognition of prior learning" it is possible to complete the 2357 qualification by passing only a selection of the units of the 2357.
These are items of training that are not covered by the 2330.

There are nine units from the 2357 to pass, one of these units is the AM2, which is an integral part of the 2357 qualification.

You could do the other eight units but you would not have achieved completion of the 2357 until the AM2 unit was also passed.

You also have the option to take the mature candidate route which is the old 2356 NVQ Level 3, that would have naturally followed the 2330 quals. This is slightly different in the way the NVQ and AM2 are completely separated, meaning you can gain the 2356 NVQ qualification before even sitting the AM2. You should always do the AM2 anyway because if you looking to do the NVQ then I assume you want electrician Status with the JIB, which requires AM2.

i did think the 2356 was gone and they replaced it with the 2357 + 2357(399)for the AM2

i dont mind doing the AM2 but i like to do it in bite size, i am scared of F up and having to pay ÂŁ1000 again

Hi Duane,

Thank you for your enquiry.

The NVQ 3 involves you being assessed on site so you must be working or have access to work - you do not need to come to the training centre. An assessor will come out to oversee you carry our a variety of electrical work to ensure that you are competent. This usually involves 3-4 assessment visits over a period of time.

We cannot source work placements for you.

You must have access to work in a commercial / industrial setting. Domestic would not be enough.

You also need put together a portfolio of evidence of work in which you document and take pictures of your work. You will be assigned a dedicated assessor who will assist and support you through the process so you finish as quickly as you can.

The assessors will visit you wherever you are in the England.

Prior to completing an NVQ you should already have completed the 2330, 2365, 2357, 2360 or equivalent qualifications and have a minimum of 2 years industry experience.

You may also qualify if you have 5 years + experience

You would need to complete the 2365 level 2 and 3 course if you do not have any of the above before you could complete the NVQ 3

I guess not for me as I don't have any industrial or looks like I ever will
