Hi guys

I want to cover myself when it comes to changing a board, i.e "this is the price for c.u change but if any faults are picked up and they need to be rectified this will incur additional costs etc

obviously i check main bonds and do visual/check supply etc when i quote but the reason is mainly no rcd to new rcd board

If you have a pre made letters could you send us them or just would like your advice in how to compose a letter

thanks in advance
luke.

well when Im pricing a job I write out a quotation for the client with the necessary breakdown of price work, labour/materials and just make it clear that all faults and follow on work is subject to extra pricing.

all i have at the moment is- non payment will result in removal of items

about to do a c.u change and dont what grief so i thought if i had a template i could use a disclaimer.

thanks for your relpy.

I guess something along the lines of;

"Note - When connected to pre-existing circuits the enhanced fault detection and protection capabilities afforded by RCD devices may expose underlying faults and deficiencies that have previously gone undetected. In this event remedial work to discovered faults will need to be undertaken at the client's expense before final connection, testing, commissioning/handover is possible."

(OPTIONAL)

p.s. For the avoidance of doubt: we are not a registered charity, we are not electrical outreach workers, we do not offer 'mate's rates' and neither are we magicians.

In appreciation of your valued custom

Definitely also need to make it absolutely clear that variations and additions to the agreed scope of works will be additionally charged.

Slightly off topic ... there was a good sticky on CU changes as I recall. One of the good pieces of advice was doing a 250V IR test L+N to Earth on the whole installation (should not upset any vulnerable equipment and will give a good indiciation if any tripping type faults may show up later).

you are a star

thank you mate much appreacited

love the hugz n kisses

Yer welcome DB, I thought I'd stick the "enhanced fault detection and protection capabilities" bit in as it leads the customer in with a perceived positive benefit before you get to the "at the client's expense" kicker.

do you mean the text in bold?

probably not, i would just take them to a small claims court.

giio if you did a job and the customer didnt pay for whatever reason what would you do?
