Discuss C/Unit in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

You can certainly get them where everything is in place RCDs MCBs etc so all you have to do is put your circuits in but they dont come with blanks so you would need them to remove any unused MCBs for you to hang onto and use elsewhere

Chris

I think the OP is talking about a different type of CU the ones where you wire the line connectors of circuits into a kind of connector block, like you do the neutrals, and the individual MCBs/RCBs are "plug and play" type.. ie you can swop them in and out without disconnecting any line connectors..
got my electricfix brochure in front of me, and I cant see any.

Thanks I see the light now:) as for the idea "Yuk" it must look a bit of a mess would love to see a piccy of one in situ if anyone has one.

Thanks

Chris

yeah not my cup o tea either..
dont see the point in paying the extra to be honest.. only advantage i can see is the ability to swop out MCB's easily..?

I cant remember where ive seen them advertised, I think it was some trade mag or other..?

They're normally used on modular buildings like demountable classrooms, offices and the like. The buildings themselves are transported in sections to a site and just bolted together. The electrics and plumbing are pretty much the same, just plug it all together and away to go.

I think crabtree make them.....
