still learning.

hi, I'm trying to work out which cable size to use for a cooker but I'm not sure what the ambiant temp will be for the correction factor can any one help please?

Still learning - are you asking about temperature because you're thinking about the cable that goes from the wall to the cooker?

i would work out the diversity first. if , say, the current demand was 32A ( after diversity ) and you decided to use 6mm cable clipped direct, that is rated at 47A, so i would not even bother with correction factor, as the 6mm is well over demand. ( unless this is an exercise for college, then you need to calculate it ).

Cookers are often a suprise, after the initial shock of reading the "28.7Kw total load" on the back, when you work it out by the book it comes out not needing much at all.

hi, sorry to bother you again but can I run my calcs by you to check if I done it right.
cooker is 10.6kw

10600/230 = 46A

10 A
+ 30% (10.8A)
+ 5A

= 25.8A
which is 2.5mm clipped direct as it has a rating of 27A

Your forgetting the protective devise your intending to use. In any case, It's good practice to keep domestic cooker type circuits on a minimum 6mm cable....

25.8A is pushing 2.5mm. definitely go for 4mm, or as engineer has said , 6mm. you never know if a larger cooker may be fitted in the future. so 4mm or 6mm on a 32A MCB.
