Hello

Just have a query on the safe zones for channelling. I want to make a channel to my light switch from the other side of the wall and then drill through the wall into the back box. Is this within regs ?

sorry if this seems basic i have just never had the need to try this before

Thanks Phil

Not allowed if your using T&E. There is nothing on the wall to tell any numty that there is a cable there!

Could do what you suiggest if you use a suitably protected cable like SWA, MIC or 'pre-wired conduit' or mechanically protect the cable.

I didn't think I could :( such a shame. I run all my cable behind steal capping. i will just have to channel the side of the switch.

Thanks for your help

If you channel down to a back box with a blank cover on it (to show possible cable in wall) then drill through wall to switch IMO this should do the trick.

Is the wall 100mm or less thick?
If so, and the location of the accessory can easily be detemined from the other side of the wall, then the zone extends to the other side of the wall.
