Hi All
This is my first post to this great forum so please bear with me guy's.
Not having done a great deal of domestic installation recently as such, only in my younger years, could someone please advise me?
I have my 17th edition update and am about to take Part P then on to Insp & Test. I am aware of all the normal implications of being registered etc.

What is the official stance for running twin and earth under floorboard with regard to clipping and support. I fully understand that in a loft etc where its more accessible then where it can easily be clipped, then this will happen, but under a floor where cables pass through joists at 50mm below the top level and then need to turn parallel to the joist;

'how can cable/s be supported as in the regs every 150mm for 1mmsq without ripping every other floorboard up across a room which would cause unnecessary damage to a floor'?

Any help would be great guys.

Thank you to all for your support

I have yet to see in 40 yrs any cable clipped that runs under a floor through joists and as long as I think I will continue in the industry never will.

There are no regulations in the BS 7671-2008 concerning the interval spacing for cable, have a read of regulation 522.8.4/5. You maybe mixing the regs up with the OSG and appendix 4

Thanks for the quick response.
It was just that the house I have seen has all the old TRS cable very neatly clipped along the upper floor joists throughout the whole house using old style buckle clips, presumably done when the house was being built before the ceilings were erected. I had read Appendix 4 but I just wanted to be 100% sure before starting anything that I wasnt going to do anything which contravenes the regs etc.
