Cable pulling lubricant

Sorting my garage out at the moment, surface mount black plastic conduit
Looking at getting some pulling lubricant but see mixed reviews re: yellow 77, forum sponsor has clearglide and aquagel (both of which sound more like bedroom products...) but want north of a tenner for a bottle...can get it from ebay for that or less...

One of my mates in the states reckons talcum powder works well and unlike 77 doesn't go sticky...not sure on that...but i can see the plausibility...after slipping on a tiled floor and landing on my back after someone had helpfully doused the floor in talcum powder post shower....slippery stuff...

You ideally want a lubricant that does not create a mess, ideal 77 is OK, using talc or chalk is more difficult to cover the cable fully and tends to make plenty of mess, polymer lubricants should stay less sticky over time and silicone lubricants can work well.
Unfortunately all the standard lubricants tend to be similar in price or very expensive.
As it is the garage the mess may not matter, depending on your approach to mess so talc may be the answer, just ensure good coverage.

the only thing I really need it for is a 7 metre pull of 10mm for a 63amp industrial socket down 25mm conduit (it fits but is a swine for snagging...already did another run and turned the air blue at some moments...so anything to make my life easier would be a boon...

might get a bottle of 77 from screwfix next time im in...<£5...better than 5.50+VAT+£5.95 delivery at CEF...

If you comply to the spacing factor for trunking and conduits then you should be able to push these cables through never mind drag and pull over 7m even with the odd bend IMHO.

grease, vaseline, washing liquid if you have to. they all work

..hmmm that gives me an idea...I've got some inert grease somewhere (its designed for greasing hose connectors and stuff like that onto nylon / pvc fittings...IIRC the tub reckons its safe for use on near anything...)

problem I had with the previous 10 was the bend, didn't help it was a horizontal to vertical change...so needed a bit of fiddling around to get it around and not jam itself (didn't help I was working on my lonesome...help would have been great...but needs must...)

Tallow the greatest lubricant known...........can pull anything through anything

And when applied with plumbers horsehair around an apprentices...................hmmmmm nether region is a fine initiation material

clearglide or whatever that clear gel hellerman sell. its really good

Clearglide sounds like a bedroom lubricant...really wonder if someone in Ideal has gotten years of mirth out of naming that...knowing full well what it sounds like..
