I cant find anywhere in the regs that state cable sheath is to be used if rcd protection is used at cu?

I always do as best practice, but if i was chasing out thin cable runs and cable clipping onto brickwork, could it not just be patched over...................would be very unlikely that a plasterer will catch cable with such a small chase?...................would be different on a bare wall.
Or plasterboard is dot and dabbed straight over the top these days too!?

Whats ur thoughts?!

:D

Ive actually tested a full rewire where the install team had used metal capping. But the customer told me that every now and again the rcbo for the skts would trip. When I did the IR test I found the leg that was causing the problem. Because the walls had already been plastered I had to rip the leg out and I found that although it had been capped the plasterer still managed to nick the cable. So although its best to use capping its not fool proof.

And I think if you do any work for the local council they do require you to use it.
