I am in the process of doing a bit of renovation and i need to run a cable from the meter to the distribution board, the distance is 45m. 25 of them are under ground and then it goes up through the cavity and into the attic and over to the board. Will 16mmsq swa be to small or will i have to go to a 25mmsq swa? it's a standard domestic house 3 bed, bathroom, kitchen, sitting room, utility etc.

Underground then up through the cavity to the attic then down to the CU? Anyone else seeing a shorter way? If there's extensive renovations going on then you may as well save a few metres.
Not a job for an amatuer though I'm afraid, no matter how enthusiastic you are.

FORTY FIVE METERS!!!!!

If you haven't already done it then:-
- Over 3 meters, you should advise your DNO so they can come and fit a fused isolator (Ca-Ching!!!!!!).
- If it is buried or not fully visible along the whole run, then it must be mechanical protected.
- Calculations need to be done to ensure the correct sized cabling for the load.

I think the point that is being made is if you don't know what is required to work it out you probably won't be able to work it out if we tell you what you need, with your chosen route there are many variables, get an electrician in.
