Cable sizes

Hi all I was just wondering if anyone know s of a product that allows me to measure small cable sizes approx 50mm to 0.75mm I already own a micrometer and I know I could fill up my toolkit with loads of cuttings of cable.but to be honest it's not not really a viable option the reason I am asking this is I recently got specs and its making visual determination of cable sizes that bit more difficult ideally the product would be insulated for safety reasons. I have searched the net with no joy and ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

start by using the micrometer on a few sizes of cable at home. then get a piece of hard plastic or aluminium. drill holes corresponding to the various cable sizes, then you have an easily portable cable size gauge in your tool box/bag.
