cable through sofit

hello people

sorry for the silly question but are there any regulations prohibiting running a cable through the sofit from the loft for lets say a external light. i cant find any reference in osg any advice would be appreciated.

many thanks

We all know about the main wall cavity cant have cables in but i'm not sure if soffits would be classed as the same? One of my contracts is wiring soffit lights on every home we do for a contractor. Never had a problem and the inspectors have been happy enough.

Again, you're just running a cable straight through it so I can't see a problem.
You could still run it straight across a cavity provided it's adequately protected and sealed, just not down or along it.
