cable through wall

hello people
having a blonde moment.if a cable mearly pass directly through wall from garage to kitchen to feed switch for outside light then through wall to light rest of circuit in garage in conduit it doesnt have to be rcd does it. sorry bit thick today.:dunce2:

No mate, cables going through a wall doesn't need rcd protection or mechanical protection but if your installing this circuit as a new install it would need to be rcd protected.

I may have misunderstood your question. If the cable is all surface mounted or in conduit there is no requirement for rcd protection even if your run takes you directly through a wall. So the answear is no rcd needed.

Thought so. That used to puting everything on a rcd now .Job is a 16th cu easiest way is new circuit from cu in garage. Customer wants to keep price down so didnt want to rcbo and rcd side full.
