cables through a consumer unit????

Quick question, what are the regs on running a cable through a consumer unit???

Don't think there are any. You mean just passing through it for no good reason? Why would you do that anyway?

Got tray at the top of the board, and got a switch on the bottom right of the board, was just seeing if i can just run a cable through the board and get to the switch that way. Just keeps it all neat'ish. Just didnt know if there are regs stopping me from doing this ?

Is the cable part of the same system as the switchgear in the DB? If so, then I don't see an issue with doing it, but personally I'd probably run it around the outside of the board.

I agree.
If the cable running through the DB is isolated when the supply to the DB is isolated then there are no obvious hazards. But if it is not to be terminated in that DB, then I wouldn't run it through the DB either.

The mcb for the circuit is in that board im putting the switch next too.

Why not two plate it and go from the MCB to the Switch and then out to the circuit..it's not a pass through then keeps it neat...and not neutral at the switch either...
