Discuss cables through a consumer unit???? in the Electrical Wiring, Theories and Regulations area at ElectriciansForums.net

Got tray at the top of the board, and got a switch on the bottom right of the board, was just seeing if i can just run a cable through the board and get to the switch that way. Just keeps it all neat'ish. Just didnt know if there are regs stopping me from doing this ?
 
Is the cable part of the same system as the switchgear in the DB? If so, then I don't see an issue with doing it, but personally I'd probably run it around the outside of the board.
 
I agree.
If the cable running through the DB is isolated when the supply to the DB is isolated then there are no obvious hazards. But if it is not to be terminated in that DB, then I wouldn't run it through the DB either.
