Hello!!
I am using 2 ABB 100kw string Inverters (ABB PVS 100-TL) in a single room. Can anyone assist me in calculating the Heat dissipation from these string inverters.
following are the Input voltage information for both the inverters
Inverter 1: Vin=720V DC at STC (for max string size of 18 modules)
Inverter 2: Vin= 680V DC at STC ( for max string size of 17 modules)

If more information is required, please let me know.

Thanks!

ABB PVS-100-TL - https://new.abb.com/products/6AGC076172/pvs-100-tl-inverter

dc energy in = ac energy out + heat

inverter efficiency = ac energy out/dc energy in

According to the inverter specification at the link the inverter efficiency is 98.2%. The maximum dc power input is 125kW. The rated ac power output is 100kW ( - I have not looked up the ambient conditions and whether this figure is continuous).

If the max dc input was 125kW then (1-0.982) x 125 = 2.25kW of heat is produced by the inverter and some noise/vibration.

If the inverter was operating at maximum ac output of 100kW, then the dc power input is 1/0.982 x 100 = 102kW. Thus the heat produced in the conversion is 102-100 = 2kW.

Heat then of about 2 to 2.5kW per inverter when operating at circa 100kW ac output is my estimate.
