hi could anyone clarify i have just brought a rcd tester off of someone it was described as new still got film on screen no use but i havnt got cal cert .it came with manufacturers certificate but doesnt say when made only that it is covered by this up to 2 years from date of supply will i have to get this re-calibrated thanks

Normally when you but a new piece of test equipment the Certificate of calibration or conformity will have a section there that you need to sign to correspond with the invoice. For example the unit may have been calibrated by the manufacterer on May 1st 2010. You bought it on July 1st 2010 and you sign the Certificate inside. That means your tester is calibrated to June 30th 2011 and your invoice is proof of that.

So have you got this original piece certificate signed and the original invoice. If you haven't got either then you will have to get it recalibrated. Also not sure that if your in a self certification scheme if they will accept a 2 yr calibration period. Even if that is the manufacterers guarantee.

many thanks malcolmsanford for info im afraid no i have not got mentioned papers so it will be re-calibrated to be sure thanks for your speedy reply
