calibration of MFTs - who to use? | on ElectriciansForums

Discuss calibration of MFTs - who to use? in the Electrical Tools and Products area at ElectriciansForums.net

Hi mate, I just had same thing, I have used local company who pick up and return my metrel after. But just before I had my assessment two weeks ago I bought a check box from eBay. Covers Insulation and resistance, with results sheet. You do the rcd test on dedicated socket in your office/ home and always use same one each time. I think it cost about 16 quid, so a really big saving on calibration costs, although I will get it calibrated again in about 2-3 years just for piece of mind. Will find sellers details etc if you want them, although should be easy to find. The unit is approx 4x2 inches so easy to carry in tool box, napit assessor was more than happy for me to use results for assessment. Hope this helps

Try some of your local wholesalers and see if any are offering a calibration day. Costs can vary considerably from around £30 to £100, depending on service (collection, delivery, turnaround time etc). Cheapest generally at the wholesalers.

testermans on ebays, £40 collected and delivered
jps calibration services on ebay, £35 posted back to you, you have to post the them which can be expensive considering the insurance value and the size of the padding and box you want to use.

The 1552, which I also own, does not predate GS38. You have nothing to worry about.
