Ay up lads and lasses,

Need someone with with an eye for design to help me find a solution to a cable routing scenario.

So at the moment i have a room, maybe 5 meters x 5 meters, around the entire ceiling perimeter of this room is run a conduit line with drop points for various cee-forms and 13a sockets. I, however am looking to add to this room, a ring of 3phase sockets. Originally i was planning on buying some 50x50 maxi trunking, taking all the existing conduit off (or even just removong the sadles and putting the existing conduit into the maxi trunking) and hanging some maxi to run my new circuit through along side the existing the cables. BUT.... to cover this space effectively, and neatly, i would be looking at around ÂŁ250 of trunking and corners, and T's etc etc and i always do my best to save money for the company where applicable as long as it doesnt compromise safety.

So short of just running SY around the room and looking rather untidy, anyone got any good tips or ideas to hide my cable, add to existing stuff, but make a neat job?

Ben

Hi Wade, I think you are going to be hard pushed to get an esthetic solution for under ÂŁ250. Dado or skirting trunking systems will be well over that budget. Getting a chippy to do some sort customised boxing-in or battened and plaster-boarded wall facarde might be possible, but not good from a future maintenance or additions point of view.

Hi Ben, sorry off your topic but how did it go with the rewire bloke and the court case ?

Only out of box thought is what is behind walls of room? Can you run circuits on other side of wall & straight through (sure you have thought of that) ?

Cheers lads, but ive decided to use existing conduit and pull singles through it....sigh.....but its probably the most cost effective and hassle free way i can think of for now.

And as far as the court case goes Spartykus, its just on going, sent my defence off in regards to his pathetic counter claim and my cheque for the county court, so ill just wait and see what happens now, the mediation service may provide a good solution if i like the terms, otherwise i eagerly await a court case to tear this clown to pieces.

Well....having thought about this for about 20 seconds, pulling a ring of three phase and N singles through 20mm conduit with cable already residing in it = impossible and completely futile. So im going to have to dissemble in the worse of the short circuit robot, the whole existing installation, and replace with 25mm conduit or some sort of trunking anyway....becoming....a....massive....ballache
