I've had access2tradecareers offer me a place on their electrical training course. My big worry is the price tag.......... 5g. eek. Now, on a brief search of the internet in general I've found a lot of comments suggesting that these courses can be done at a half of that cost. My only problem is that I'm completely new at all this & have no idea exactly what training I should be looking for. The level of training that access train up to sounds ideal, ie, to the point where you p--- domestic electrics & go on to pat testing etc.

Now, I work 40hours per week & just couldn't afford to give up my job to train. If someone could offer me some advice, or tell me their experience of access, or point me in the direction of the same qualifications for cheaper still part rime, I would be really greatful! :D

Please please help! :)

Your local college would be the cheaper option and still part time. Down side is the college courses take a lot longer than what ever access2trade are offering.

There are lots of companies out there offering the domestic installer packages at different prices and different timescales, so if domestic installing is the route you want to take.......... look around.

Hope this helps

Hi all, many thanks for the links, much appreciated :)

I'm really looking for something that surpasses the domestic qualification, something that I can do in my own time, at home. Something with tutor contact, & that takes longer than a few weeks (I want to make sure I really absorb the information, rather than struggle to cram all the information in in a short period of time), I want something that balances practical work & theory work. It seems, so far, that access is the only course that provides all of the above. It would allow me to take as long as I wanted, so I could make sure the information I was learning was really going in, & I'd be learning at my own pace.
