Hello my learned friends. I have recently installed an update on Windows 7 and since then haven’t been able to upload pictures, text format any posts and stay logged in on the forum. Uninstalled the update but it just made the situation worse. Most of the time I just get a white screen when moving from one thread to another. What baffles me, it was a video driver update. Any ideas of what I can try to resolve this problem? :mad2:

Not to sure whats gone wrong there but you should still have access to "windows old" . Open your hard drive and you will see it , all your old files etc will still be there .

Sorry misread that, thought you meant you had upgraded to windows 7. Yes system restore should sort that.

Talking about crackpot computing. After a few failed attempts at that system restore malarkey, the computer finally succumbed to my threats to kill it and turn it into a paperweight. Video driver has now also been rolled back. None of it has resolved the issues though. I run a word processing program called Microsoft Works . Could there be a compatibility issue with that and the forum. Just clutching at straws now.

might need windows re- installing. similar thing with mine. computer geek round corner did it all, uploaded all my info onto his server, re-installed op. system and other stuff and put all my data back on. cost ÂŁ50.

If you think M$ works is the issue, close it down and make sure it isn't still running CTRL+SHIFT+ESC
If you still get the issue then it's not M$ works.

What browser are you using? Maybe try installing Opera or Chrome just to rule out a browser issue which would be highly likely. I don't see why MS Works would be the issue but I suppose anythings possible with Microsoft....

Try selecting a compatibility mode for your suspect program, usually it's just the program that is affected though.

you go that spot on.
thats why i switched to linux and open office/libre office more than a few years ago.
less problems.

system restore does work though but you need to remember to periodically create restore points of your working system.
these manually created restore points give you far more control over the system.

of course my wife always jokes about raising the dead every time she reaches down the front of my trousers:tt1:

Muchas Gracias my Ohmies,
Thank you all for trying to help me resolve those problems. The long and sort of it is, after I pressed CTRL+SHIFT+ESC the computer crashed and wouldn’t let me reboot. Bit the bullet in the end and formatted and reinstalled everything. I still think the original problem was caused by that video driver update and all subsequent problems were caused by my relentless tinkering to resolve the issues, but we will never know now. As a token of my appreciation, I have filled the fridge in the Chit Chat site canteen with beverages. Enjoy! :17:
