Its been a while since I posted. I've read in the past that the DNO has shut down solar installs if there were too many in a postcode area and there was a problem with the grid.

A large 26 Mw solar farm is being proposed near me, should I be concerened that this could conceivably mean my installation could be shut off?

The chances are they wouldnt shut you down, they will however have the capacity to shut that larger scale system down remotely if there are any problems, so I wouldnt be overly concerned

only if you / your installer hasn't registered your system correctly, or your system can be shown to be pushing the local grid voltage above acceptable limits or similar.

IMO if everyone was on pv the grid could not cope, transformers etc are not set up to take back energy into the grid am I wrong for thinking this?.

In Germany, Italy and other counties where is a lot of PV systems (never say too much) the grid operator can manage the amount of output power from them. But the producers are selling all the electricity to the grid, not use them for self consumption ( in the house). This is usually for a few days per year, for a few hours. Mainly in the spring season.
In Germany for every installation more that 10 kWp, need to have a special controller, that can control the output of the inverters, on - 70%, 50%,30%.
