Hi, I have been working as a spark for the last 18 months and have 3 years experience previous to that. I never had any qualifications as I have always been working for someone. I now have my 2330 level 2, and am starting my 2330 level 3 in June and I am also booked on my inspection & testing 2392 in January.

Is it possible to start working for myself and signing off my own work without informing local councils?

I have looked at the NICEIC domestic installer scheme but that stops me doing commercial work (small shops etc)

I have also looked at Napit and found this on their website:

I have lost or never actually taken my formal electrical exams but I am competent, do I need to go back to college before I can join the electrical scheme? No due to a large number of people been in this situation we have reacted to the market place and devised a solution acceptable to the government which we ask you to take a trade test which is written & practical and once you have passed you are awarded a UKAS Accredited Certificate of competence which is a nationally recognised qualification. There is no extra cost for this test and saves most people a genuine ÂŁ1000.

Is this as good as it sounds? Is anyone here in a similar situation? Or can someone give me advice on this?

Thanks in advance
