hi chaps advice greatly appreciated, to do my part p assessment, my parents have said that i could do it from their place as the last place i was to do it from was so dangerous that i couldnt consider it, my parents are planning on having a extension built and would like a new consumer unit seperate from the existing one(old TNS with d.no iscolatorwhich they dont want rewiring), would it be poss for me to split the supply using henley blocks, then put in the new c.u(major job) for the extension and use this, the problem is the final circuits on the new c.u wouldnt be wired in until a later date i.e when the extension been built but i would like to be assessed a.s.a.p so that i can start working , offered a contract provided have partp. They do have another job which is putting in a external socket with a rcd so my dad doent fry himslef cutting lawn, etc, only a minor job. I have 2391-01 , 17th regsetc any input greatfully received druid
psthanks for the birthday wishes :D

new c/u without circuits will not be enough imo

Re: can i do this for my assessment, any help greatly appreciatedhi chaps advice grea

I dont think mounting a DB and tailing it up will be anywhere near enough.

Most want a CU swap with a full EIC and the addition of a power or lighting point as a minimum.

wow , that was quick , thankyou for the input chaps, so if i put in new c.u and poss have one final with the external socket for my dad, do you think that would be enough , tested ,eic labc notification etc
thanks again druid

yes that would be ok , new c/u with one radial to supply socket

Your best bet would be to contact the scheme provider you are thinking of going with and ask them.

For me, I'd say no I'd want to see more.

You would want to see more than a new CU, RADIAL &LIGHTING CIRCUIT lenny? I'd be sure this would be enough??

If you read the post the proposal is to fit a 2 way CU via henleys and wire 1 external socket from it. As I said ring the proposed scheme provider but IMO not enough.

Yes I agree. Thought he meant 4 way board with radial or ring plus lighting circuit....

great advice chaps, il be asking scheme provider, could the external socket be one final an il think of another as the board will have spares ,also the existing c.u was done a while ago albeit to good standrds at the time , its got no rcds and the bonding isnt upto 17th regs although safe enough but i wont be working on that

I don't think it would be enough for Part peeee assessment but as has been said you really need to ask your proposed scam provider.

Interesting question arises though - although you are not proposing to work on the existing CCU you have noticed the bonding isn't up to scratch on it, so are you obliged to upgrade this? I think you have at least got to consider this/advise the client (your parents) and recommend that it is upgraded. One would hope the assessor would notice it isn't correct when he sees the CCU (when viewing your work adjacent to it)?
