Over the weekend I was looking at my savings and looking at how much I had left on my mortgage. I came to the conclusion that I would be better off chucking a big lump off the mortgage. I've got ISAs with two different places, Nationwide and Halifax. So, plan was to take a lump out of both, chuck it into my current account then 1 payment off my mortgage. Got on the app for Nationwide and within 2 mins the money was in my account. Next, on the app for Halifax. Couldn't find the account listed. Ok, log into online banking on the laptop. Yup, there's the account. Now, where's the withdraw button? Nothing. Check the info screen and nothing. Ok, there's an ISA helpline. Phone it and after an eternity on hold I speak to an asian lady who can hardly speak English. Eventualy she decides I'm not talking to the right department (ISA dept but don't deal with ISAs). She gives me another number. I phone, pensions dept. After explaining things they transfer me to another dept. I explain things. No, they can't help. I search the web site for more contact numbers. Phone one, give all my info yet again. After a long pause get told I need to go to my local branch to talk to someone. Well, that's about 1 1/2 hours of my life wasted and still can't get to my money. If only everything was as simple as the Nationwide app.
Ah, it's so nice having a rant.
