I have a microwave oven that I tore apart before taking metal to scrap. I safely discharged the capacitor first, then took out the interior parts.
The blower fan looks really nice with the above mentioned motor on it. I'd like to use it for another project by attaching a standard U.S. plug to it. Do I need to add a resistor? I have VERY limited knowledge of electronics but did wire my 110v basement with plugs and fluorescent tubes. The motor has two spade connectors on top.

I would not recommend it.

you have no idea what the motor type is, have little understanding of electrical / electronic principals (by your own admission)

it is probably best you get someone involved who has more knowledge to prevent injury to yourself or others.

The motor is a common AC 120v 60hz motor. I've seen a hundred of them around for various things. It is attached to a single vent squirrel cage fan. I meant that I don't have a ton of experience with electronics, NOT electricity. I've soldered resistors on other motors to step-down the amperage and so I'm not a complete newbie...I just wondered about the low amperage- 0.55amps needed from a 15 amp house outlet.
