I have a small 8w light purchased from Ikea - the ones that you can attach under kitchen cupboards - and I want to use it to light the area above the cooker while the cooker is on and in use.

I would like to know if its Ok to wire it into the switched spur of the cooker so that once the switch is on, it turns the cooker and light on at the same time.

The cooker is on its own circuit and its an electric cooker.

Thanks in advance.
Mike.

Nothing wrong with it in principal we had a thread on this recently some went for cookers normally have their own circuit and others went for it dosent matter so really its a choice for you.

If I have to drop a spur of the ring its alot of farting about with regards to getting behind cupboards. Ill wait till Im next there and have a look properly at where things are as it was only a quick look this evening.

If I attach it to the cooker ring and it keeps tripping then I know Ill have to run a spur. Its a love job so not a problem if it trips, I wont have a bad tick against my work. Unless my family are really petty!!!!

are you saying the cooker is controled by a fused spur now and you want to go onto the load side of same spur because i think you should fuse down to 3a prehaps under the cupd
if cooker on 32a thru 45a switch then 2.5 to fused spur under cupd anyway
