An easy one for you clever lot.
Can an electric heater be run in a bathroom?
Don't know if there is an RCD on the board or not.
What other factors do I need to take into account?

Thanks in advance

Gerry

I just condemned a heater in a bathroom.

If it is a plastic type downflow heater, over 0.6 metres from a bath or shower tray then fairynuff. If closer must be IP 65 or some such.

Metal cased thing then no, in my opinion.

All circuits in a bathroom must be protected by an RCD (30mA) BS7671:2008

and be suitable for the installed conditions...

Basically, Gerry, does the manufacturer explicitly warrant its use in a bathroom environment?

For a heater, i only ever install in such locations if Manufacturers Instructions expressly condone it.

& if not all ccts of the location are 30mA protected, you`d also have to Supplementary Bond it!
What fun eh

Course, the supplying cct would have to be protected as a minimum.
