Good evening guys, i was wondering if any of you wiser heads can give me some advice please, im 29 years old and thinking of embarking on a night school course at st helens college to eventually become on paper a electrician after about 3 years,(classtime not experience) this isnt something i decided to do overnight its been at the back of my mind for ages, basically when i left school i was "pushed" into doing an advanced engineering modern apprenticeship at a local bus building company here in wigan where i live, eventually that closed down, and basically the quals i have NVQ 2/3 c&g's etc are for a dead trade as coach building has died a slow death, ive been working for a council run housing company as an estate caretaker, basically we maintain voids, litterpick and other mind numbingly boring jobs, anyway having taken the plunge and buying a house with the better half just over 12 months ago, being on a salaried wage of ÂŁ16,000 a year with a mortgage and bills there isnt much spare at the end of the month as you can probably imagine, ive always held an interest in electrics, always thought that it must be a cracking job which gives you plenty to think about and youre always learning but i thought if i hadnt done it from being 16 i would never have a chance of getting into it, but i must admit now my enthusiasm for wanting to take the plunge and try to get myself a job again that im proud to say i do,(as i dont litterpicking) and try to learn a trade, and hopefully have a few quid in my back pocket the proper and slow way my question is, would i be completely wasting my time going to night school and paying out for college courses, and would i ever get anywhere in the electrical trade by doing it this way? Please any helpful advice would be appreciated.
