Hi everyone, i have just joined the site in the hope some of you may be able to give me some guidance.

I have recently started a Refrigeration apprenticehip based in Manchester and have discovered that i have a strong desire to learn more about the electrical side of things, i realise that this will be covered to an extent by my College course but i would like to be able develop my knowledge prior to and beyond what the course will teach me. To this end i tried searching for a beginners electrical course around the Manchester area that i could do during the evenings but was unable to find anything suitable, i was unable to find anything really other than online courses which, although i am not totally against, i would prefer traditional face to face teaching.

Another option i am considering is that of a CD-ROM or something similar, i have had several interactive Spanish CD-ROMs in the past and have found them to be quite useful.

Like i say whatever i do i am very much a beginner and have no idea where exactly i should start, due to my Apprenticeship (which i love) i am employed full time and am unable to attend any of the full time electrical courses offered by the colleges during the week days.

If anyone could point me in the right direction i would really appreciate it.

Andy

You love your apprenticeship, so stick with it. This is a case of you wanting to run before you have learned to walk.
You should be taught all the relevant electrical bits that you need to know to do the refrigeration engineer stuff, and in time you will pick up a bit more knowledge. Once you have mastered your apprenticeship, then look at a more formal electrical route. Which tech cert are you doing as part of your apprenticeship framework?

Cheers............Howard
