Been asked if we can beat £4900 including vat for 4KWp Canadian solar and sma inverter (didn't bother to ask which one) The jobs in Wellingborough so things must be tough there too at the moment. My local paper is now carrying adverts with stupid prices for PV, ST and heatpumps from a company that lost their local authority work and probably have no idea about private customers.

Tough times ahead next year I think.

Last Canadian Solar Job we did in August came in at £7,345.00. Just sold a 2.6kWp system for £6195, we were more expensive than the other quotes, it is not all about price!

We have won the last 13 out of the last 15 jobs, we are far from booming but we are hanging in there with the margins we are achieving.

I couldnt be bothered to instal at that price, you only need a nasty surprise on the roof and thats your £50 profit gone!

Good for you pal I've found it is about the cheapest price

I do think we are in a good area, although competition is high for some reason it has not become cut-throat. Companies that we are up against are doing "crazy Summer offers" we are selling well above these offers so can only assume that they always find a reason to push their prices higher.

£4,900 is clearly ridiculous and utterly unnecessary.

The returns ARE good at current FIT rates but the public are utterly confused about the issue, not helped by our bloody awful media. We're not struggling to sell - not at all. But we aren't even getting in a position to sell. The phone doesn't ring.

The result of this is that firms are panicking and reducing their prices beyond reason. Barker and Co. will be rubbing their hands looking at these prices and will be using them to justify their next ludicrous decision.

Yea well we're about to quote for a 4kwp - probably with Canadian solar. Straight forward install, I'd have been quoting £6,995 normally but I know I'm up against someone quoting £6300 ish for Sharp/Fronius. Tempted to cut our price quite a bit we've had nothing for 6 weeks.
